Monomoy Flatwing Streamer

Monomoy flatwing streamer

Materials:
Hook - Mustad 34007, size 1/0
Thread - Flat waxed nylon, white, for hackle tail; clear mono for body and head.
Tail - sparse white bucktail (stiffened with head cement), over which are three long, narrow white saddle hackles
Flash - pearl krystal flash and pearl holographic flash (2 strands of each per side). The flash extends from the head to the end of the tail. Body - clear mono over flash, wrapped the length of the hook shank
Throat - sparse white bucktail
Wing - sparse tan or olive bucktail
Gills - red poly yarn.

Comments: This flatwing streamer can be tied with a tan or olive back. I liked the tan coloration when fishing over the light-sand colored flats of Monomoy and Chatham. The olive-backed fly seemed to do better when the water was a little off-color. I can't remember where I picked up this pattern, but it was effective when sight-fishing the flats.
